There is a cruel misconception that mental illness equates to low intelligence or weakness. In my work, I see the opposite.
Surviving and compartmentalizing extreme chaos requires immense cognitive agility. Many trauma survivors possess profound empathy, loyalty, and a fierce sense of justice born from the intimate knowledge of injustice.
When the shame voice says you are "weak," remember the facts: Your brain didn't fail you; it adapted to keep you alive.
