Trauma isn't just what happened to us—it’s often what wasn't witnessed afterward.


For many survivors of Complex PTSD, the original relational injury is followed by a cruel second trauma: trying to manage the physiological chaos of flashbacks, hyper-vigilance, and deep shame entirely alone.


When your nervous system is stuck on high alert and you lack the vocabulary or a safe person to turn to, the isolation becomes its own traumatic stressor. You are forced to be both the victim and the rescuer—an exhausting, impossible cycle.


Healing requires a safe, empathic witness. Whether through small bids for connection or a supportive therapeutic relationship, we must dismantle the isolation that tells survivors their pain is illegitimate.
